Yep, I finally tried to draw something and compared to most of what I do I think it came out rather well, thanks to guidance from the fantastic tutorials of [link] .
This is Marie 'Mari' Flynn, my character from my Digimon fanfiction series, Dimensions written under the pen name of Blazing Chaos. You can find the books of the series at [link] . I've never drawn anything before of any merit so this was certainly an interesting experience for me, and I'd love to hear people's (constructive) opinions and advice. I might colour this at some point, but I'm still working on my skills with GIMP and so it'll take some time, if ever. Now, as for the legal stuff, I request you don't copy this or alter it or really do anything other than look and it (and admire/scorn/shrug at it if you wish) without my permission. And so I go back to writing Dimensions, and my rather late Extra Dimensions story, Christmases... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! Until next time... B.C. |

Art is like God/gods. Difficult to describe what you feel for it except in how you react to it, and never fully conveys everything expressed in it.
I went over it a bit with the eraser, adding some light to the eyes which gives it this nice 'glossy' quality.
I like how the shading turned out which is why I'm not really sure whether I want to colour it or not. Her hair looks particularly good, and nearer her neck it's clear what's closer and what's further away towards the back.
Her mouth is interesting, it's not entirely clear whether she's content, smiling lightly or frowning subtly, which is pretty much what I was aiming at. It's all a matter of how you look at it really.
Thanks for the comment.

I was going to say that suddenly I looked at the image and there was life to it and she was, well, looking back. Art is very strange since up until that point it was merely a collection of lines in a rather messy attempt.

grotesquelly huge which is good. The neck I thought was a little too long (though with
the way you drew her face it actually balances it out) and the hair was just right too.
The mouth too is pretty good as it didn't look like you were trying to force an emotion
on her, which in my opinion means that the way she looks would be how she'd actually
feel if this were the drawing of a real person. It's a conflicting image that works
really well with her character.

I can see what people mean about the neck, but as you say, it does balance out fairly well too.
Yeah, it does look like she is a real person regarding her expression rather than a caricature.

I should do more, but at the same time I should also be getting on with writing and also doing homework. Ugh, what happened to all my time?
